About the Role

Chewy is looking for a Senior Pet Wrangler Specialist to join our Chewy Studios Team based in Dallas, TX. The ideal candidate has worked with animals in a professional setting, preferably with animal training experience. This position will be part of the Pet Talent team dedicated to working with all pet talent for both video and photography, collaborating with pet parents and other Studio team members.

A key focus is building the confidence and skills of pets in the Studio through positive reinforcement training, observing and acknowledging animal behavior and stress in a fast-paced environment. The Senior Pet Wrangler Specialist will advocate for pet talent, communicate updates to the on-set team and leadership, and train a diverse pet team on new animal behavior techniques.

Chewy Studios creates photos and videos for web content, social media, TV commercials, and more, featuring pet talent as the main stars. This role requires strong interpersonal skills to work with both pets and Studio team members.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize knowledge of species and breed-specific behaviors to encourage pets to present desirable behaviors for the camera
  • Note any changes in behavior and communicate to Manager, Pet Handling
  • Identify and report any safety concerns on or off set
  • Build and present educational presentations for the pet team and studio
  • Coach wranglers on new training techniques and approaches
  • Take initiative in advancing knowledge and skills on animal behavior and training concepts
  • Update pet casting database with pet photos and behavioral information
  • Complete studio testing with new pets to determine their eligibility for casting
  • Network with potential pet parent contacts for casting
  • Assist in creating a stress-free environment for pets on set by advocating for their needs
  • Conduct training sessions with cats and dogs using positive reinforcement techniques
  • Write training plans for shaping new behaviors
  • Communicate with internal teams to set pets up for success on set and propose alternative solutions when needed
  • Supervise all interactions with pets to ensure safety for pets and people in the Studio
  • Build positive relationships with pet parents
  • Set up, break down, and clean pet holding areas
  • Assist Pet Talent Team with other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional animal experience
  • Must be comfortable around all animals including cats, dogs, horses, reptiles, and rodents
  • No animal allergies

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of animal behavior/behavior analysis in the animal training field (preferred)
