About the Role
Under the general direction of the Personnel Supervisor II, Transactions and Benefit Services, the Senior Personnel Specialist is responsible for personnel and payroll transactions, benefits, and leave accounting for an assigned roster. The role serves as the subject matter expert and coordinator for a full range of personnel and payroll transactions, including temporary leaves such as Non-Industrial Disability, State Disability Insurance, Paid Family Leave, and Catastrophic Leave.
The incumbent is expected to become increasingly independent with training and on-the-job experience and may be required to travel to institutions as necessary. This position is located in Human Resources (HR) at CCHCS in Elk Grove, Sacramento.
Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) requires full-time employees in Bargaining Unit 01, and related Excluded, Exempt, and Statutory Exempt employees, to have their base salary reduced by three percent. In exchange, they will receive five hours of PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries listed do not reflect this recent change.
Responsibilities
- Process personnel and payroll transactions for an assigned roster.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for personnel and payroll transactions related to temporary leaves, including:
- Non-Industrial Disability
- State Disability Insurance
- Paid Family Leave
- Catastrophic Leave
- Manage benefits and leave accounting.
- Coordinate and provide guidance on a full range of personnel and payroll functions.
- Travel to institutions as necessary.
Benefits
- Five hours of PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027 (in exchange for a 3% base salary reduction).
