About the role
A Payroll Tax Analyst is responsible for ensuring payroll tax accuracy and maintaining compliance with tax regulations for the USA and Canadian payrolls. Maintains strong internal and external client relationships by addressing questions and escalations with accuracy, a sense of urgency, and professionalism. Demonstrates strong independent problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Tax Payment & Filing - In partnership with our Payroll Tax Vendor, responsible for managing federal and multi-state compliance and managing appropriate deadlines to ensure 100% accuracy and timeliness.
- Tax Notice Research & Resolution - Responsible for researching and resolving all tax notices with proper partnership with our tax vendor as well as communication to agencies, clients, and internal stakeholders.
- Daily Compliance & Reconciliation - Perform daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly tax processes to ensure tax compliance.
- Tax Knowledge & Training - Perform regular tax research to stay ahead of state and federal tax changes and properly train payroll specialists on changes to data entry.
- Proactive Process & Compliance Improvement - Monitor internal company processes and provide recommendation of increased speed, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Associate Inquiries - Investigate and respond to via timely communications and resolutions, utilizing our case tracking system, email, and telephone correspondence.
- System Maintenance - Within our HCM system ensure tax setups such as annual SUI rates, localities, new state taxes, etc. along with any corrections for associates, are actioned to ensure proper deductions and avoid W2 errors, negative wages, etc.
- Equity Transactions - In partnership with the Compensation team, process daily and annual equity, along with auditing and reconciliation.
Requirements
- 4-7 years of an equivalent combination of educational background, related experience and/or military experience
- Combination of 4+ years of high volume full-cycle in-house multi-state payroll processing and payroll tax experience
- Experience with federal, state, and local tax regulations as well as Canadian Provincial regulations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Human Resource, Business or related field
- OneSource Virtual experience, or other 3rd party payroll tax provider
- Workday experience
- CPP certification

Pay
Salary range: $85,000 - $120,000 annually
Schedule
This role is on-site Monday through Friday.
