Senior Payroll Manager, US
About the role
The Senior Payroll Manager, US is a key leadership position within the Finance organization at RingCentral. This role reports to the Director of Global Payroll and leads a high-performing team of payroll professionals located in the US and Philippines.
Responsibilities
- Lead the US payroll function with a team of skilled payroll professionals, supporting a growing global workforce across the US and Philippines
- Manage and oversee global payroll processing using UKG and Workday Payroll, including biweekly, semi-monthly, and commission cycles
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll for all states in compliance with federal, state, and local tax and labor regulations, including variable pay, stock, supplemental, and off-cycle pay runs
- Manage monthly and quarterly payroll close activities; prepare management reporting decks and GL journal entries
- Responsible for timely and accurate accounting for all employee compensation and balance sheet reconciliations
- Set up and manage payroll in new states, providing input to payroll service providers, reviewing and approving payrolls
- Apply for tax IDs for new jurisdictions and maintain tax information using ADP Smart Compliance
- Manage the transmission of data files for FSA, HSA, and 401K plans
- Perform Quarter/Year-End reconciliation of payroll and stock transactions; manage W-2 processing accuracy
- Drive cross-functional collaboration with HR, HRIS, Benefits, Compensation, Stock, Finance, Tax, and Legal teams
- Ensure smooth integration with ancillary systems, including UKG Workforce Management, Workday, and NetSuite ERP
- Document and enforce internal controls in compliance with SOX procedures; support quarterly and annual external audit requests
- Manage internal and external payroll audits and relationships with external payroll providers
- Develop and maintain payroll policies, calendars, checklists, process maps, and procedural documentation
- Drive special projects including system implementations, upgrades, integrations, and process improvements
- Mentor, develop, hire, and train staff; develop and report on key payroll metrics
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries with urgency, empathy, and accuracy
- Support management on ad hoc, scalability, and acquisition-related projects
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience leading US payroll operations at a public, multinational high-tech company
- Hands-on experience with UKG (UltiPro/UKG Pro) and Workday Payroll — both platforms required
- CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification preferred
- Strong working knowledge of multi-state and federal payroll, tax, and wage and hour laws
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and team management skills
- Strong analytical skills including flux analysis on P&L and Balance Sheet
- Experience with ADP Smart Tax Compliance, ADP Workforce Now, Dayforce or similar payroll platforms is a plus
- Experience implementing or upgrading large-scale payroll systems strongly preferred
- Experience with stock transactions related to payroll reporting and tax withholdings
- Understanding of payroll journal entries and GL account reconciliations
- Degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance; CPA or MBA a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Resourceful, innovative, detail-oriented, with a can-do attitude
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, data-driven, and rapidly evolving organization

If you are hired in Belmont, CA, the compensation range for this position is between $150,100 and $183,000 for full-time employees, in addition to eligibility for variable pay, equity, and benefits.
