About the role
For our client, we are seeking a Senior Payroll Manager to join the team of a leader in the Pharmaceuticals & Biotech space. This role will own compensation, benefits, and rewards programs that help attract, retain, and motivate talent at scale. You will partner with people leaders, finance, and executive stakeholders to align rewards programs with business needs and employee experience. The position offers the opportunity to strengthen pay practices, improve program governance, and create more consistent outcomes across the organization within a life sciences environment.

Compensation
$230,000 – $300,000 annually
Responsibilities
- Own full-cycle payroll processing for all US entities, covering various payroll scenarios and complexities
- Handle complex equity compensation, ensuring accurate tax withholding and reporting
- Manage high-volume payments related to bonuses, commissions, and severance
- Oversee compliance and preparation of quarter-end and year-end payroll documentation
- Enhance Workday payroll configuration, focusing on automation and optimization opportunities
- Manage Canada payroll operations in conjunction with PwC, ensuring CRA compliance and effective processing
- Lead and cultivate a team culture of accuracy and continuous improvement while addressing complex payroll issues
Qualifications
- 8+ years of payroll experience, including 3+ years in a senior/managerial role overseeing US multi-state payroll
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is required
- Direct management of at least one full-time employee (FTE) is necessary
- Strong experience with Workday's payroll module or related HCM systems
- In-depth knowledge of equity compensation processing, including RSUs, ISOs, and NSOs, along with associated tax implications
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous setting and build structure independently
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills across teams
