Summary

The Sr. Payroll Analyst oversees and executes payroll processing and analysis to ensure accurate and timely payroll for all employees. This role includes payroll auditing, data analysis, compliance monitoring, and process improvement initiatives.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Prepares and processes regular and special off-cycle multi-state payrolls ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Acts as the main point of contact for payroll inquiries, resolving complex payroll issues, and providing guidance on payroll-related matters.
  • Reviews payroll calculations, investigates and resolves discrepancies.
  • Maintains organized and complete electronic files. Reviews and analyzes data entry and maintenance of information into payroll systems including employee work, pay, paid time off and time and attendance data.
  • Provides regular ad-hoc reporting to stakeholders.
  • Assists with researching payroll related laws and trends.
  • Led payroll projects, including system implementations, and process enhancement initiatives. Documents payroll policies, procedures, and workflows, ensuring knowledge transfer across teams and providing training as needed.
  • Reviews and prepares payroll reconciliations and payroll processing prepared by peers.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Authority

Lead/and or guide the work of other employees.

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and 5 years of payroll processing experience, with at least 1 year in a senior or lead role or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CPP or FCP certification is preferred.

  • Excellent organizational skills, a keen attention to detail, strong administrative, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Reliable with a high degree of confidentiality and integrity.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and can prioritize responsibilities and tasks to effectively meet deadlines.
  • Personable, good listener and can effectively communicate with all staff and client types through both written and verbal means.
  • Able to work efficiently both independently and as a member of a larger team.
  • Willing and flexible to help with any urgent issues that happen to arise at the company, even if they are outside the immediate scope of the role.
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Excel and payroll systems and tools.
  • Experience with multi-state payroll processing and strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll regulations and best practices.
  • Able to work various hours based on payroll deadlines and needs.
