About the Role

The Senior Payroll Accountant will support full-cycle payroll and financial reporting within a growing professional services environment.

Responsibilities

• Payroll Management: Oversee full-cycle payroll processing for a multi-state workforce, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Financial Reporting: Support monthly close, prepare financial statements, and analyze variances in accordance with GAAP.
• Reconciliations: Perform bank reconciliations, payroll reconciliations, and general ledger account analysis.
• Compliance: Manage payroll tax filings and ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with HR and Finance teams on workforce reporting, compensation analysis, and budgeting.
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance payroll and accounting processes, systems, and internal controls.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required, CPA, CPP, or FPC is preferred.
• Experience: 5+ years of experience in payroll and/or accounting with full-cycle responsibilities is required.
• Industry Knowledge: Understanding of multi-state payroll compliance and GAAP accounting principles is required.
• Technical Skills: Advanced Excel skills and experience with payroll systems such as ADP or Paychex are required.
• Skills & Attributes: Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently are required.
