About the Opportunity

The Senior Patient Accounts Representative is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely preparation, editing, and submission of insurance claims to various regulatory payers. This role is essential for maintaining billing accuracy and clean claims processing, contributing to the organization's financial integrity and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, edit, and submit electronic and manual insurance claims to regulatory payers including Medicare, Medicaid, L&I, VA, Crime Victims, and Healthy Options
• Manage primary, secondary, late charge, and corrected claims
• Review and resolve billing edits within EPIC and claims scrubber systems
• Verify accuracy of claims submitted to payers
• Reconcile claim runs and create electronic claim files
• Resolve claim editing issues by coordinating with third-party clearinghouses or claims scrubber vendors
• Identify and report recurring billing errors and trends to supervisors
• Research and analyze coding errors
• Document billing issues and trends
• Assist in problem-solving and developing solutions
• Process credit balances due to regulatory payers

Requirements

• Coursework or training in medical terminology and medical coding from an accredited school, or equivalent on-the-job training in a billing role
• Minimum of one year experience in hospital insurance regulatory billing involving Medicare, Medicaid, and/or Labor & Industries (L&I)
• Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business Management, or Healthcare Administration
• Strong technical background with experience in automated systems
• Experience working with Provider One, MECA, FSS0, and/or CWF is preferred
