Senior Patient Account Representative

Monitors the activities and performance of physician practices to ensure that billing-related functions are performed efficiently and in accordance with department policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Interfaces with physicians and administrators to ensure financial growth and stability; apprises physicians of new and revised procedures.
  • Monitors accuracy of fee structure and reimbursement payment schedules from third-party payers, all cash payment deposits, and refunds.
  • Acts as a resource person for resolution of complex billing situations.
  • Guides billing/clerical staff regarding billing and office/clerical functions.
  • Coordinates clinical documentation requests to the business office to ensure timely appeals.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures to facilitate billing and maximize case collections.
  • Reviews and recommends improvements for the financial management of each billing area.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.

Skills

  • Revenue Cycle and Patient Accounting experience
  • Underpayment and payment variance analysis
  • Insurance claim adjudication knowledge
  • Commercial and Managed Care payer experience
  • Contract reimbursement interpretation and analysis
  • Knowledge of EOBs, remittance advice, and payment posting
  • Medical billing and claims processing experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding principles
  • Familiarity with EPIC, Soarian, Invision, and payer portals (e.g., Availity)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage a high-volume workload
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare compliance requirements

Schedule

  • Remote
  • Monday–Friday
  • 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, 8:30 AM–4:30 PM, or 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
