Job Summary
The Senior Patient Access Representative serves as a liaison between patients, families, physicians and medical support staff. Specific duties vary by location and may include:
- Collaborates with multi-disciplinary team to ensure medical services are appropriately scheduled for patient.
- Reviews procedure/surgery orders and schedules necessary resources.
- Manages provider schedules.
- Serves as a liaison between provider and supporting providers.
- Demonstrates medical necessity to insurance companies and obtains required prior authorization.
- Performs registration duties and works the front desk.
- Trains and mentors new employees.
- Acts as an electronic medical record (EMR) super user.
- Displays professionalism and promotes mutual respect and cooperation.
- Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Solves problems and seeks guidance when needed.
- Uses computer skills and multi-line telephone effectively.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; post-secondary education helpful.
- Previous medical office experience preferred.
- Prior electronic medical records (EMR) experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology; customer service skills essential.
- Six months' customer service experience desired.
