Senior Packaging Engineer

Position: Senior Packaging Engineer Location: Covington, GA Duration: 4+ Months Contract Total Hours/weeks: 40.00 pay rate: $30-40/hr Description Job Posting Title: Senior Packaging Engineer Job Description Summary Manage/Lead the packaging activities/projects for NPD and Sustain Engineering. Manage and/or lead all packaging activities for materials, process, design, equipment and/or validation. Also included would be exploring additional cost savings opportunities. Justification Business need to support NPD, Sustain Engineering (Regulations, Stay In Business - SIB and/or Cost Savings). Job Description Conceptualization of initial design options, execution of design, and modifications of packaging design. Leads the appropriate packaging equipment to meet packaging design and material requirements. Converts customer needs into new product concept solutions. Develops prototypes of concepts and subcomponent mechanisms. Designs and develops tooling and fixturing required to support new products and line extensions. Utilizes design concepts and analysis techniques, including but not limited to: Failure Mode Analysis Finite Element Analysis & modeling Geometric Dimensioning/ Statistical Analysis Tolerancing Analysis Stress/Strain Analysis Manage vendors and customers to identify appropriate materials and components to meet packaging requirements. Analyzes concepts to ensure that the specifications (Product Performance Specifications) meet the customers’ requirement. Ability to detail designs to ensure manufacturability; proper dimensioning and tolerances stack-up analysis. Recommends modifications as required. Establishes and maintains appropriate documentation of activities in accordance with existing policies and procedures (Divisions, Corporate, and Regulatory compliance) Actively participate/lead New Product Development teams and Design Reviews. Basic Qualifications Demonstrated ability to design innovative packaging/mechanisms Proficient in the use of a personal computer with intermediate keyboarding skills and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Microsoft Project, and various statistical software packages. Education And Qualifications BS in Packaging Engineering or related field of study preferred 5-7 years experience or based upon background/experience Medical device and/or pharmaceutical experience a plus Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
