About the role

The Senior Packaging Developer will be responsible for developing and qualifying innovative packaging solutions for Wella Company's Hair Color, Care & Styling Brands. This role involves working closely with R&D partners, Marketing, Design, Supply Chain, Procurement, Third Party Manufacturers, Suppliers, and Initiative Managers.

Responsibilities

  • Innovation/Projects: Develop and qualify package innovations for Hair brands, ensuring alignment with design intent, performance, functionality, aesthetics, cost, scalability, manufacturability, timing, compliance, and quality requirements.
  • Base Business Continuity (BCP): Support base business operations, including BCP efforts, efficiency projects, manufacturing technical transfers, scouting for new suppliers/manufacturers and technologies.
  • Testing: Recommend and execute technical & consumer learning plans through all project gate stages to ensure robust technical readiness and qualification.
  • Sustainability Integration: Implement sustainable packaging practices aligned with company initiatives and targets.
  • Ownership & Agility: Independently handle multiple priorities with agility and resilience, exhibiting curiosity and hands-on mentality to solve problems.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Seamlessly communicate and work with diverse stakeholders to achieve project goals.
  • Digital & AI Savviness: Integrate digital, AI, and fast-package-development solutions to create future-proof package development approaches.

Requirements

  • University degree in Packaging Development & Technologies, Engineering, or Industrial Design.
  • 1-3 years of Package Development/Package Engineering experience, preferably in FMCG industries and specifically in the Beauty/Hair category.
  • Knowledge in packaging technologies and development approaches.
  • Fluency in English (written/oral), with proficiency in another language being a plus (e.g., Spanish/Portuguese).
  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills, entrepreneurial, agile, curious, and hands-on spirit.
  • Ability to communicate and operate independently in diverse teams and environments.
  • Ability to travel 10-20% of the time to domestic or international destinations.
  • Experience with AI tools and probing/coding is fundamental.

Qualifications

Pay

The starting salary range for this position is $80,000 - $100,000 per year. Actual salaries may vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, skills, and in comparison to internal incumbents currently in similar roles.
