About the role
The Senior Outside Plant (OSP) Engineer at Ziply Fiber is responsible for executing fiber OSP projects, ensuring capacity, constructability, and scalability alignment. They serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for engineering and coordinate with various departments and external partners.
Responsibilities
- Proactively review outside plant facilities for upgrades and enhancements.
- Review and produce HLD and LLD documents.
- Attend pre-construction meetings for project designs.
- Prepare cost estimates based on project type and needs.
- Perform QA/QC audits on vendor designs.
- Maintain accurate cable records and update according to As-Builts.
- Manage the full permitting lifecycle for ROWs and easements.
- Coordinate with utilities for joint trenching and permit coordination.
- Support leadership with reporting and escalations.
- Provide guidance, support, and training to internal and external vendors.
- Drive on behalf of the company in a safe and responsible manner.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years of OSP Engineering experience or an outside plant position.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in telecommunications outside plant project management and/or fiber design.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in ROW, private easement, and permitting with local, state, and federal entities.
- Knowledge of outside plant design, cable count layout, and capacities.
- Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and satisfactory driving record.
- Completion of a pre-employment drug screening.
Qualifications
- Organizational skills, communication skills (written and verbal), and customer relations.
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with Engineering team, regional managers, vendors, local supervisors, and technicians.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in various stages of activity and meet critical deadlines.
Skills
- Knowledge of outside plant activity and engineering tools (Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, GIS).
- Ability to drive on behalf of the company in a safe and responsible manner.

Pay
$88,000 to $115,000 annually.
Schedule
Regular business hours Pacific Standard Time, availability for on-call, evenings, and weekends as needed.
