About the role

The Senior Outside Plant (OSP) Engineer at Ziply Fiber is responsible for executing fiber OSP projects, ensuring capacity, constructability, and scalability alignment. They serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for engineering and coordinate with various departments and external partners.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively review outside plant facilities for upgrades and enhancements.
  • Review and produce HLD and LLD documents.
  • Attend pre-construction meetings for project designs.
  • Prepare cost estimates based on project type and needs.
  • Perform QA/QC audits on vendor designs.
  • Maintain accurate cable records and update according to As-Builts.
  • Manage the full permitting lifecycle for ROWs and easements.
  • Coordinate with utilities for joint trenching and permit coordination.
  • Support leadership with reporting and escalations.
  • Provide guidance, support, and training to internal and external vendors.
  • Drive on behalf of the company in a safe and responsible manner.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of OSP Engineering experience or an outside plant position.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in telecommunications outside plant project management and/or fiber design.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in ROW, private easement, and permitting with local, state, and federal entities.
  • Knowledge of outside plant design, cable count layout, and capacities.
  • Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and satisfactory driving record.
  • Completion of a pre-employment drug screening.

Qualifications

  • Organizational skills, communication skills (written and verbal), and customer relations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with Engineering team, regional managers, vendors, local supervisors, and technicians.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in various stages of activity and meet critical deadlines.

Skills

  • Knowledge of outside plant activity and engineering tools (Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, GIS).
  • Ability to drive on behalf of the company in a safe and responsible manner.

Pay

$88,000 to $115,000 annually.

Schedule

Regular business hours Pacific Standard Time, availability for on-call, evenings, and weekends as needed.
