About the role

The Senior Outside Plant (OSP) Engineer at Ziply Fiber is responsible for overseeing fiber OSP projects, ensuring project progress aligns with budgets and timelines, and maintaining accurate records and permits.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively review and upgrade outside plant facilities.
  • Review and produce HLD and LLD documents.
  • Attend and participate in pre-construction meetings.
  • Prepare cost estimates based on project type and needs.
  • Perform QA/QC audits on vendor designs.
  • Maintain and update cable records according to as-built documentation.
  • Manage the permitting lifecycle for ROWs and easements.
  • Coordinate with utilities for joint trenching and permit coordination.
  • Support leadership with reporting and escalations.
  • Provide guidance, support, and training to internal staff and external vendors.
  • Work on-call, evenings, and weekends as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of OSP Engineering experience or an outside plant position.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in ROW, private easement, and permitting with local, state, and federal entities.
  • Knowledge of outside plant design, cable count layout, and capacities.
  • Valid driver's license, auto insurance, and satisfactory driving record.
  • Completion of a pre-employment drug screening.

Qualifications

  • Organizational skills, communication skills (written and verbal), and customer relations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with Engineering team, regional managers, vendors, local supervisors, and technicians.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in various stages of activity and meet critical deadlines.
  • Ability to drive on behalf of the company in a safe and responsible manner.

Pay

$88,000 to $115,000 annually.

Schedule

Regular business hours Pacific Standard Time, with availability for on-call, evenings, and weekends as needed.
