About the Role

The Senior Outreach Specialist is a leadership position within the Center for California Studies, responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing the Center’s annual nationwide outreach activities. This role also involves developing and implementing communications and social media strategies for the Capital Fellows Programs.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and implement annual nationwide outreach activities for the Center for California Studies.
  • Develop and implement communications and social media strategies for the Capital Fellows Programs.
  • Create and manage content for various communication vehicles, including print, digital, and social media.
  • Build and foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Drive change initiatives and collaborate with diverse groups, including students, faculty, and governmental stakeholders.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations for various audiences.
  • Stay updated on relevant events and subject matter to identify media opportunities that promote the program.
  • Travel as needed to perform duties.

Qualifications

  • Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field and four years of relevant experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of marketing, communications, public relations, branding, web design, and digital marketing/social media strategies.
  • Strong story development, journalistic writing, and editorial skills.
  • Proficiency in using technology and event planning tools.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing successful strategies and campaigns.
  • Advanced analytical and organizational skills to manage projects within time and budget constraints.
  • Ability to apply statistical techniques to research and analyze data for communication purposes.
  • Experience in public and internal relations, including managing vendor partnerships.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of the role.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Recent and direct work experience with fellowship and/or intern programs.
  • Experience with marketing strategies focused on underserved populations.
