About the role

Marstel-Day, LLC, a premier environmental, planning, and sustainability consulting firm, is seeking a Mid-level or Senior-level Planner to support innovative solutions for community planning, facilities planning, master planning, resilience planning, engagement and facilitation, partnership development, and other planning requirements.

The Planner will support federal planning requirements with the Department of Defense (DOD) and may also support requirements for the National Park Service (NPS), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), and other federal agencies; along with requirements for state and local governments, private entities, and/or nongovernmental organizations.

This position may be hired as a Mid-Level Planner or a Senior Planner. Strong candidates will possess exceptional research, analysis, and writing skills along with personal motivation and a creative approach to the execution of project requirements. Strong knowledge of community planning processes is required along with excellent written, graphic, and verbal communication skills. Strong senior-level candidates will possess federal project management and/or team leadership experience and client engagement skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support federal planning requirements with the Department of Defense (DOD) and other federal agencies
  • Support community planning, facilities planning, master planning, resilience planning, engagement and facilitation, and partnership development
  • Meet established deadlines for project-based tasks
  • Up to 15% travel to support charrettes, workshops, meetings, and site visits

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, landscape architecture, geography, public policy, or similar fields; Master’s degree is a plus
  • Certification through the American Institute of Certified Planners is a strong plus
  • Other certifications in areas of landscape architecture, LEED, Sustainable Sites, charrette facilitation, GIS, or similar areas are a benefit
  • Experience for federal projects is a strong plus
  • Mid-level candidates require 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Senior-level candidates require 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Self-motivation and ability to work independently in a flexible work environment
  • Strong candidates will have intellectual curiosity paired with a high level of organization and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite programs Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Technical skills with Adobe Creative Suite, CAD, GIS, similar software tools, and/or hand renderings is a strong plus
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. (DHS Form I-9 must be completed by the incumbent and submitted to DHS for verification of citizenship and eligibility through E-Verify)
  • Submit to a background check as a condition of any final offer of employment
  • If required, submit to required background and credit checks in order to obtain and maintain a secret clearance

Pay

  • Mid-Level Planner: $72K–$95K
  • Senior Planner: $85K–$125K
