About the role
The Senior Operations Manager (SOM) oversees all operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective movement of inventory through the facility. This includes supervising a team of Operations Supervisors who monitor workflow conditions and adjust resources as needed to meet store demand.
Responsibilities
- Identifies and resolves safety issues on the floor and escalates to the appropriate parties;
- Completes safety observations and fosters a safety culture;
- Determines daily workload (production volume) and monitors inventory movements;
- Evaluates staffing needs and moves personnel to meet priorities;
- Communicates business objectives, safety issues, and workload plans;
- Reports on key performance metrics to upper management;
- Manages associates' performance and provides development opportunities;
- Sponsors and leads associates through change.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Industrial Engineering, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience;
- 3+ years of experience in distribution center operations or related areas, or 7+ years of experience in distribution center/warehouse operations with increasing responsibilities if education requirement not met;
- Leadership experience with direct report responsibility;
- Mentoring and coaching experience;
- Experience leading teams through change;
- Resource and budget management experience;
- Problem-solving experience;
- Experience leading corporate-led initiatives or similar roles in other Lowe's supply chain networks;
- Experience with HR-related issues;
- Ability to attract and hire talent for the team.
