About the role
Our Sr. Operations Managers are responsible for all budgetary, people development, and operations objectives at the site. This role oversees all aspects of operations or functions, including managing and leading a team of Operations and Area Managers, coaching and mentoring to ensure performance objectives are met, building positive employee relations, and developing leadership bench strength within the Fulfillment Center.
Responsibilities
- Drives creation of quality initiatives, process change initiatives, and other Lean initiatives to enable their functional area and the Fulfillment Center to meet and exceed business plan goals.
- Responsible for the overall safety, quality, performance, and customer experience of either Inbound or Outbound operations.
- Sets and clarifies requirements and expectations for Operations and Area Managers.
- Measures performance, provides feedback, and holds Ops Managers accountable for their performance and the performance of their departments.
- Leverages Operations and Area Managers by sourcing and nurturing ideas, rolling them into improvement plans for the functional area.
- Takes proactive steps to ensure best practices are shared across all departments, shifts, and the network.
- Works closely with support staff (HR, Finance, Facilities, Safety, IT, and other Sr. Operations Managers) to build and secure support and resources for projects and initiatives.
Additional Job Elements
- Lift and move totes up to 49 pounds each.
- Regular bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching both below the waist and above the head.
- Walking in the FC and around the area with great frequency; facilities are over a quarter mile in length.
- Continual standing and/or walking an average of 5 miles daily.
- Ability to work in construction/distribution environments that may be noisy, unlit, unheated, or not air-conditioned.
- Able to access all areas of the building (ascending and descending ladders, stairs, gangways safely and without limitation).
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of full-time Amazon experience.
- Experience with the full staffing lifecycle, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, promotions, and terminations.
- 7+ years of direct management experience.
- Work flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays.
- Experience with performance metrics, process improvement, and Lean techniques.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or above in a relevant field of operations.
- Experience working in fast-paced environments and managing workload during times of stress or escalated activity.
- Experience in management and leadership development, organization development, learning and development, group facilitation, training, or training design.
- Interest in long-term career development through assignments in multiple Fulfillment Centers across the nation.
- Track record of effectively leading an operation comprising both salaried and hourly staff of at least 100.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully develop others into higher levels of leadership in an organization.
Pay
Base salary range: $135,000.00 - $182,700.00 USD annually.
