About the role
As a Senior Oncology Specialist at Amgen, you will serve as the primary liaison to medical professionals, providing clinical knowledge of our products and communicating their clinical and economic benefits. Amgen’s mission is to serve patients living with serious illnesses, and this role plays a critical part in advancing that mission. You’ll help deliver innovative medicines to patients battling some of the toughest cancers, including those resistant to treatment, rapidly progressing, or with limited options.
Amgen Oncology focuses on supportive care treatments to combat chemotherapy side effects, as well as targeted medicines and immunotherapies for over a dozen malignancies, from blood cancers to solid tumors. With a robust pipeline and decades of experience, Amgen continues to expand its portfolio of oncology therapies.
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary customer contact, delivering current and comprehensive clinical knowledge of Amgen’s products to medical professionals.
- Create and execute a comprehensive territory plan, including delivering branded sales messages, executing programs, scheduling and following up on medical educational initiatives, and achieving or exceeding sales targets.
- Utilize internal and external relationships to service and manage accounts, ensuring product access, resolving reimbursement issues, and maintaining product contracts.
- Develop and implement an effective marketing strategy to drive sales.
- Analyze business effectiveness, conduct territory analysis, and collaborate with your District Manager to refine territory plans.
- Maintain passion for Amgen’s products throughout the sales cycle, always prioritizing patient impact and brand integrity.
- Partner with colleagues to share best practices and foster continuous learning and growth.
- Leverage your expertise in oncology and disease state awareness, along with industry, regulatory, and competitive insights, to deliver results.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of sales experience and/or clinical experience in a healthcare/scientific field (non-sales), or
- Associate degree and 6 years of sales experience and/or clinical experience in a healthcare/scientific field (non-sales), or
- High school diploma/GED and 8 years of sales experience and/or clinical experience in a healthcare/scientific field (non-sales).
Qualifications
- Preferred experience in Oncology and/or Hematology.
- Three or more years of sales and/or marketing experience within pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare, or medical device industries.
- Product or hospital sales experience in oncology, nephrology, dermatology, rheumatology, inflammation, neurology, endocrinology, hepatology, gastroenterology, or infectious diseases.
- Local market knowledge.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or Business Administration.

Pay
The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is $140,465 to $190,041. Actual salary will vary based on relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
