About the role

The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) is working towards building a healthier India by strengthening education and training, advancing research and technology, and facilitating policy and practice in public health. PHFI is headquartered in New Delhi with a national presence through its constituent units, including regional Indian Institutes of Public Health (IIPHs) and Centers of Applied Research. Established in 2006 as a public-private initiative, PHFI is governed by an independent board comprising senior government officials, academic leaders, civil society representatives, and corporate leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Project finance and grant accounting, including budgeting, MIS/SoE reporting, financial monitoring, and reconciliations.
  • Ensuring statutory compliances such as TDS, GST, and FCRA, including preparation and submission of returns.
  • Managing fixed assets, including preparation of registers, calculation of WDV, and depreciation.
  • Coordinating with project teams, vendors, auditors, and funding agencies for accurate and timely financial operations and compliance.
  • Preparing financial reports for management and funders, including statutory and internal reports.
  • Achieving timely audits (internal, external, grants, tax) on a need-based basis.
  • Assisting in due diligence related to organizational finance as required.
  • Liaising with project-related employees, vendors, and external agencies for submissions and reconciliations.
  • Working closely with the Grants Controller/Assistant Finance Manager on monthly account closures and financial reports.
  • Preparing finance reports for funders and traveling to project sites for periodic monitoring and organizing training.
  • Assisting with statutory compliance and related yearly returns, including service tax compliance and returns.
  • Cross-functional coordination with other departments such as Admin, HR, IT, and Inventory Management.
  • Reporting functionally to the Grants Controller and assisting the PI of the project as needed.

Qualifications

  • Essential: Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Master’s degree in Commerce, MBA in Finance, or any equivalent degree to MBA.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of working in ERP Oracle, TALLY, and the EAT Module of PFMS.

Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Hindi and English.
  • Willingness to undertake project travel.

Experience

  • Around 5–6 years of work experience in finance.
