Temporary full-time position located in Lawrenceville, GA (onsite). Estimated duration: 14 months. Shift: Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM (up to 40 hours per week). Hourly rate: $40.00–$45.00.

About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled and technically proficient NOC Technician to support Tier 1–2 network, systems, and cloud infrastructure operations in a mission-critical 24×7×365 environment. You will be responsible for the proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolution of issues impacting a large-scale LAN/WAN architecture across over 100 countywide sites, including core IP networking, virtualization platforms, hybrid cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP), and SaaS integrations.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor enterprise infrastructure using tools such as SolarWinds, Cisco Catalyst Center, Cisco ISE, Palo Alto Panorama, etc.
  • Triage and respond to system-generated alerts and logs across network, server, and cloud environments.
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and escalate to Tier 2/3 engineering teams as necessary.
  • Configure and support LAN/WAN connectivity for user devices (PCs, VOIP phones, printers, IoT, card readers, body-worn cameras).
  • Troubleshoot and maintain DHCP reservations, DNS configurations, firewall rules, ACLs, and VLAN assignments.
  • Maintain connectivity between internal systems, cloud resources, and remote users (VPN, NetMotion, IPsec/SSL).
  • Block malicious IPs in real-time per InfoSec team guidance.
  • Manage VPN access for county employees and third-party vendors.
  • Support physical security infrastructure (cameras, intercoms) across 100+ sites using Avigilon.
  • Perform cabling verification and troubleshooting for network patching using tools such as Fluke DTX testers to validate copper and fiber connections.
  • Coordinate with low-voltage cabling vendors for installations and escalations.
  • Use TeamDynamix Service Management for ticket handling and workflow tracking.
  • Maintain NOC SOPs, technical documentation, and operational runbooks.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and after-hours emergency support.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 2–4 years of experience in a NOC or enterprise IT operations environment.
  • Familiarity with Cisco Enterprise Networks and Cisco Command Line.
  • Familiarity with ITIL-based incidents, problems, and change management.

Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, ACLs, EIGRP, OSPF, NAT, and multicast (3 years).
  • Configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco routers/switches: 2900, 3800, 3900 routers; 2900, 3500, 3700, 9200, 9300, 9500, IE2K/4K/5K series switches (3 years).
  • Experience with Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers and wireless networks on a large scale (3 years).
  • Familiarity with SNMP, NetFlow/sFlow, Wireshark/tcpdump (3 years).
  • Experience with SD-WAN, MPLS, and VPN (IPSec/SSL) (3 years).
  • Knowledge of Layer 1–4 troubleshooting and infrastructure design for 50+ site environments.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Preferred certifications: CCNA, CompTIA Network+.
