About the role
Responsible for the strategic sourcing, procurement, inventory management, and operational coordination of non-human primates (NHPs) to support preclinical studies. Ensures regulatory compliance, animal welfare, and seamless study execution through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Source and procure NHPs from domestic and international suppliers
- Manage vendor relationships, contracts, pricing, and performance
- Forecast supply and mitigate procurement risks
- Oversee animal inventory systems and ensure data accuracy
- Plan and forecast colony needs to meet study timelines
- Cover import/export, quarantine, and transportation logistics
- Ensure compliance with AWA, USDA, GLP, and IACUC requirements
- Support audits, inspections, and regulatory readiness
- Cover inter-site transfers and study scheduling
- Oversee animal selection, screening, and study readiness
- Maintain procurement records, reporting, and dashboards
- Drive process improvements and operational efficiencies
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Animal Science, Supply Chain, or related field, or equivalent experience and education to fulfill essential job duties.
- Minimum 5+ years in procurement, inventory, or preclinical operations; experience with laboratory animals preferred.
- MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and industry specific manuals.
- Ability to write advanced reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills are required.
- Personal/professional integrity and proven discretion in handling confidential information.
- Ability to develop strong trusting relationships in order to gain support and achieve results.
- Relevant industry experience a plus.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with GLP, AWA, USDA, and IACUC standards.
