Job Summary/Description

Do you have 3+ years of experience as an MMJ or reporter? And want to cover the lead story every night? Come be our senior reporter in the Quad Cities. We are looking for someone who can shoot, write, and edit all of their own stories. This job will have a lot of fill-in anchor opportunities where you can expand your skills on the news and digital desk.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Develop and pitch your own stories
• Sell, write, and edit these stories on a daily basis
• Produce longer-form, promotional stories monthly
• Be ready to roll out the door if breaking news happens
• Work with the digital team to come up with unique ways to reach viewers
• Fill in anchor on our newscasts, especially when the 10 p.m. anchor is off
• Create unique digital content - and anchor an 8 p.m. news update nightly on KWQC+

Qualifications/Requirements

• Newsperson of the Day awareness
• Pitch lead stories
• 3 years' experience as an MMJ
• Strong writing skills
• Strong news judgement
• Understanding of cameras and editing platforms
• Strong on-camera presence
• Self-sufficient
• Be able to work in a team environment with reporters, anchors, and producers
• Curiosity
• Open to feedback
