Senior MRI Technologist

Position Summary

Senior MRI Technologist performs complex MRI procedures, ensures patient safety, mentors staff, and assists with operational duties while maintaining high-quality imaging standards and departmental compliance. They also participate in training, equipment management, and leadership tasks, requiring certification, experience, and strong technical and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform complex MRI procedures on both scheduled and emergency patients, ensuring patient safety and adherence to quality control and data integrity standards.
• Train and mentor staff, fellows, residents, and students in MRI techniques and procedures to maintain high professional standards.
• Manage equipment and operations, including identifying malfunctions, assisting with inventory, quality assurance projects, and supporting daily departmental workflows.
• Provide leadership support by filling in for supervisors when needed, overseeing clinical operations, and championing new equipment or process improvements.
• Maintain patient and family relations by creating a supportive environment, explaining procedures clearly, and responding empathetically to individual patient needs.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Associate's Degree in Allied Health required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience: 3 years of experience working as an MRI Technologist.
• License/Certification: Current MA Radiologic Technologist license for MRI (preferred); MRI registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) — must meet, successfully complete, and maintain the ARRT certification; BLS certification.
