About the role

Electrical Power Conversion (EPC) software is at the center of torque generation control and related functional safety features for Rivian’s cutting-edge electric vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the testing, calibration, and verification of motor control algorithms, primarily focusing on advanced projects.
  • Continuously improve the team’s technical excellence, discipline, and flexibility to ensure high-quality software deliverables, timely software integration, operational efficiency, and field performance review.
  • Plan and perform algorithm testing in dynamometer, HIL, inductive load, and vehicle test environments.
  • Manage the calibration set of motor control software for advanced projects.
  • Lead requirements verification for advanced motor controls and cross-functional vehicle-level features.
  • Work with cross-functional teams on electric actuator and vehicle bring-up activities.
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve test stations for dynamometer, HIL, and inductive load testing.
  • Stay abreast of new technologies, competitive methods, and products.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • 4+ years of experience in motor calibration and dynamometer operations
  • Expertise in the theory and principles of AC electric machine drives and three-phase switching power converter topologies
  • Expertise in test automation systems; NI VeriStand preferred
  • Expertise in calibration software; Vector CANape and CANalyzer preferred
  • Fluency in data processing software, including MATLAB/Simulink
  • Experience in HIL bring-up and testing preferred
  • Strong hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, multimeters, and power meters
  • Strong hands-on experience with dynamometer mechanical setup
  • Strong teamwork, data presentation, problem-solving, and project planning skills in collaboration with project managers

Pay

The salary range for this role is USD 135,100-168,900 for Southern California based applicants. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, and organizational needs. The successful candidate may be eligible for annual performance bonus and equity awards.
