Senior Mortgage Underwriter - Remote, SC

Responsibilities

• Documents and underwrites mortgage loans products.
• Gathers and reviews information pertaining to the applicant's income, assets, debts, and credit history to determine ability to repay the mortgage loan.
• Applies product and investor specific underwriting and documentation guidelines.
• Utilizes underwriting results to either approve or decline the loan.
• Reviews new applications for completeness and inclusion of necessary documentation.
• Determines eligibility of the loan for the selected product and investor, or more appropriate alternatives.
• Ensures accuracy and acceptance of income, asset, debt calculations and credit history.
• Seeks resolution for any identified discrepancies.
• Manages a pipeline of active mortgage loans.
• Prioritizes loan actions based on projected closing dates and ensures loans close in a timely manner.
• Works with loan processor to meet expected closing dates for the customer.
• Provides client support throughout the underwriting process.
• Utilizes available resources to answer questions and develop alternatives.
• Remains abreast of investor loan programs, guidelines, policies and procedures to better assist clients.
• May provide guidance for associates on escalated or complex client inquiries.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of experience in Mortgage loan underwriting OR
• High School Diploma or GED and 7 years of experience in Mortgage loan underwriting.
