About the role

The Senior Medical Technologist plays a crucial role in the laboratory, assisting physicians in diagnosis and treatment through accurate testing and analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately performs testing in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Interprets and correlates clinical test results with patient history, diagnosis, and clinical condition.
  • Communicates stat and critical lab results and prolonged instrument malfunctions to physicians, nursing units, and other medical personnel.
  • Performs QC, routine, and advanced maintenance and analyte/instrument troubleshooting activities.
  • Maintains knowledge of required computer functions associated with testing and workflow management.
  • Maintains compliance with all regulatory standards.
  • Provides weekend/holiday supervisory coverage as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist, or Medical Technologist.
  • NYS Licensed Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
  • Preferred: Previous experience in a laboratory leadership position, certification by American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 4 years’ experience as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist, or Medical Technologist.
