About the role
The Senior Medical Technologist plays a crucial role in the laboratory, assisting physicians in diagnosis and treatment through accurate testing and analysis.
Responsibilities
- Accurately performs testing in an accurate and timely manner.
- Interprets and correlates clinical test results with patient history, diagnosis, and clinical condition.
- Communicates stat and critical lab results and prolonged instrument malfunctions to physicians, nursing units, and other medical personnel.
- Performs QC, routine, and advanced maintenance and analyte/instrument troubleshooting activities.
- Maintains knowledge of required computer functions associated with testing and workflow management.
- Maintains compliance with all regulatory standards.
- Provides weekend/holiday supervisory coverage as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum 4 years’ experience as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist, or Medical Technologist.
- NYS Licensed Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
- Preferred: Previous experience in a laboratory leadership position, certification by American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 4 years’ experience as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist, or Medical Technologist.
