Location: Outpatients at 30 Devonshire Street, W1G 6PU. This is a temporary position covering maternity leave, available until December 2027.

About the role

We’re looking for a highly experienced Senior Medical Secretary to join our team. As a Senior Medical Secretary you’ll be responsible for ensuring the continued provision of the highest quality of secretarial and administrative support, primarily to one Consultant Rheumatologist. Full-time, 37.5 hours per week. Shift times: Monday – Friday, 9AM-5PM. Working from home is available after a 3-month probation period.

Responsibilities

  • Provide full secretarial support to the Consultant’s practice, including audio-typing of clinical and non-clinical material, reports, and sensitive documents while maintaining confidentiality.
  • At the Consultant’s request, arrange admissions, request investigations, and obtain test results using hospital data systems.
  • Draw the Consultant’s immediate attention to results deemed abnormal or urgent.
  • Manage other correspondence and telephone contacts appropriately.
  • Maintain and file accurate patient records, including appropriate patient case note filing and preparation of relevant clinic notes prior to Outpatient Clinics.
  • Undertake any other duties as called upon by the Practice Manager.

Requirements

  • Must have Senior Medical Secretarial experience.
  • Rheumatology experience is desirable.
  • Significant understanding of medical terminology.
  • Strong, accurate typing skills are essential.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Excellent communication skills.
