Senior Medical Biller
Monday - Friday 8:00am-5:00pm at Havenwyck Hospital, a Joint Commission-accredited and licensed psychiatric hospital in Auburn Hills, Michigan. We specialize in comprehensive, compassionate behavioral health services for children, adolescents, and adults.
About the role
The Senior Medical Biller performs a variety of duties to accomplish the billing and collection of all patient accounts. Our team builds strength, confidence, and knowledge within each patient to help them continue learning and practicing self-care.
Responsibilities
- Input insurance information for patient admission.
- Follow up on all patient accounts/claims in a timely manner.
- Produce bills for all third-party insurance/patient accounts.
- Bill Medicare, Medicare Advantage, BCBS, and commercial carriers, providing necessary documentation for claims processing.
- Input billing data utilizing the hospital’s computer system.
- Discuss insurance coverage with patients, doctors, and third-party carriers.
- Bill electronically via Waystar Revenue Cycle Management and Medicare DDE System.
- Set up patient payment plans.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required by this position.
Qualifications
- High school education or equivalent required.
- One to three years of accounting office experience in a hospital or healthcare setting required.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Working knowledge of third-party insurances, billing and follow-up procedures, admitting, insurance verification, and collections required.
