About the role
The Senior Medical Assistant position at Urology Medical Center is responsible for providing comprehensive support to urology specialists and managing patient care in a specialized setting. This role requires a minimum of five years of medical assistant experience with a focus on chronic disease management or a specialty discipline.
Responsibilities
- Prepares patients for examinations and treatments, ensuring all necessary paperwork and preparations are completed.
- Assists in diagnostic procedures, collecting specimens and preparing patients for imaging studies.
- Administers medications and injections as directed by the physician.
- Monitors patient vitals and records them accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Collaborates with the healthcare team to develop and implement care plans for patients.
- Ensures patient confidentiality and maintains a safe and sterile environment.
- Coordinates patient care with other departments and external providers as needed.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Five years of medical assistant experience with highly complex, chronic disease management or in a specialty discipline.
- Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, NHA, or Registered Medical Assistant.
- BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA).
- CPT – Certified Phlebotomy Technician (ACA).
Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrates proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language.
- Communicates effectively with patients, physicians, family members, and co-workers.
- Knowledgeable about medical practices and patient care, able to assist with examinations, diagnostic, and treatment procedures.
- Proficient in computer skills for documentation and work-related purposes.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
- Ability to work collaboratively with peers in a team setting.
- Understanding of the patient population and its relation to the clinical disease process.
- Advanced assessment competences appropriate for the level of practice.
Qualifications

Pay
Salary range: $40,000 - $50,000 annually.
Schedule
Day shift, Monday through Friday.
