About the role
HDR is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Specialist to join our Power Generation team. The ideal candidate will lead mechanical teams, coordinate with other engineering disciplines, and manage project status. Typical deliverables include construction drawings, bid specifications, and cost estimates.
Responsibilities
- Leadership of the project mechanical team
- Coordination with other engineering disciplines
- Monitoring and communication of project status
- Executing mechanical engineering tasks for detailed design and owner’s engineer projects
- Developing construction drawings, bid specifications, and cost estimates
- Designing power generation systems for simple cycle, combined cycle, distributed generation, and RICE projects
- Leading project engineering and managing project schedules and budgets
- Collaborating with engineers and designers from various disciplines
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or closely related field
- Master’s degree in business or engineering preferred
- Significant experience with utility-scale power generation systems and equipment
- Proven ability to plan, schedule, and lead design projects
- Experience with gas turbine, steam turbine, and large reciprocating engine systems
- Previous experience with an engineering power consulting or EPC firm
- Excellent communication and analytical skills
- Willingness to mentor less experienced engineers
- Willingness to obtain Professional Engineering Licensure
- Proficient at working within an established schedule and budget
- Extensive experience in project execution of Power Generation projects
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office and standard Power Market Sector design software
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or closely related field of study or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 15 years of engineering experience in the discipline to be supported
- Aptitude and demonstrated hands-on experience with computer applications specific to the discipline to be supported
- Extensive knowledge of industry standards specific to the discipline being supported
- Proven ability to work in multi-disciplinary environments
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
