About the role

L3Harris is seeking a senior professional with strong knowledge of cable and interconnect design to support the design and manufacture of Tracking, Telemetry, and Command products for airborne and space-based applications.

Responsibilities

  • Design and draft cable and wiring harnesses for electro-mechanical systems using CAD software.
  • Create detailed schematics, wiring diagrams, and harness layouts IAW ASME Y 14.100.
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, including IPC/WHMA-A-620, SAE AS50881, NASA-STD-8739.4 and others as applicable.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to establish design requirements and specifications.
  • Perform design verification and validation activities.
  • Prepare bills of materials (BOM) and other documentation required for manufacturing.
  • Coordinate with procurement and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are producible and cost-effective.
  • Review and update designs and documentation as needed to reflect changes in requirements or standards.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of all designs and design changes.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical guidance as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in cable and wiring harness design.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards including IPC/WHMA-A-620, SAE AS50881, NASA-STD-8739.4.
  • Excellent understanding of schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, and harness layout.
  • Experience with design verification and validation processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Electronic packaging experience for aviation or space environments.
  • Knowledge of PCB layout and design practices and standards.
  • Familiarity with Electronics assembly and construction processes and techniques.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to obtain a security clearance.

Pay

The salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C., Denver, or NYC areas is $102,000 - $189,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.

Schedule

9/80 (employee's work 9 out of every 14 days - totaling 80 hours worked - and have every other Friday off).
