About the Role

TCOM is seeking a Senior Mechanical Packaging Engineer Lead to work on and lead a team of mechanical engineers on the design, production support, and test of electrical/electronic systems for lighter-than-air vehicles and their ground support facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of mechanical engineers in the design of lightweight electrical assemblies in space-restricted enclosures for avionics applications exposed to the atmosphere and high EMI environments.
  • Perform structural and thermal analysis and testing on designs.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineering designers to define mechanical design requirements and develop packaging design concepts and layouts for detailed drawing development.
  • Work with manufacturing to ensure designs adhere to company manufacturing standards and capabilities.
  • Serve as the lead point of contact for all mechanical packaging efforts.
  • Determine manpower resources, level of effort, and design cost estimation in coordination with engineering management.
  • Participate in Design Reviews to demonstrate that packaging designs meet customer requirements.
  • Occasional travel to TCOM’s North Carolina facility may be required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of ten years of engineering experience (advanced degree may substitute for experience pending review).
  • Ability to create production-level engineering documentation for a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience integrating and supporting manufacturing for first article builds.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills for interfacing with senior management, customers, and mentoring other engineers.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
  • Strong practical skills to follow designs from concept through fabrication and test.
  • Willingness to develop skills in new areas and work independently or in multi-disciplinary groups.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $129,373 – $180,760. The range is a guideline based on experience levels and is not a guarantee of compensation. TCOM considers factors such as scope, responsibilities, experience, education, key skills, and internal equity when extending an offer.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay, rewarding individual contributions and company results.
