Senior Mechanical Estimator (HVAC, Plumbing & Piping)
About the role
Prepare accurate HVAC, Plumbing, and Mechanical Piping estimates for projects ranging from conceptual design to final bid.
Review drawings, specifications, and construction documents to develop competitive pricing strategies.
Perform design calculations and assist with equipment and material selections.
Identify labor factors, contingencies, and cost-saving opportunities.
Build strong relationships with general contractors, suppliers, subcontractors, and owners.
Review vendor and subcontractor quotes and incorporate them into final estimates.
Attend pre-bid meetings, turnover meetings, and project setup meetings.
Develop labor budgets for awarded projects.
Help mentor and supervise Estimator Trainees.
Support bid tracking, bid reviews, bid bonds, and drawing procurement.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing, and Mechanical Piping systems.
- The ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents.
- Solid understanding of applicable plumbing and mechanical codes.
- Experience with estimating software and tools such as AutoBid, Excel, and Bluebeam.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- The ability to think strategically while staying detail-focused.
- A Bachelors Degree in a technical discipline, OR 10+ years of field experience in HVAC, Plumbing, or Mechanical Piping, OR 5+ years of estimating experience in HVAC, Plumbing, and Mechanical Piping.
