Senior Mechanical Estimator - HVAC, Plumbing & Fire Protection

About the role

The Senior Estimator at Haskell develops accurate, detailed construction cost estimates at progressive design stages, identifies risk items, and assists with Preconstruction processes and tools. This role requires strong mechanical estimating experience, self-perform and design-build project delivery method experience, and the ability to forecast and develop detailed estimates.

Responsibilities

• Developing accurate, detailed construction cost estimates at progressive design stages
• Developing associated scope of work clarifications
• Identifying risk items and the associated order of magnitude
• Aiding in Preconstruction resource management
• Aiding in the development and utilization of Preconstruction processes, standards, and tools
• Aiding the Pricing Lead and participating in estimate review meetings
• Contributing to cost savings exercises
• Aiding in the development of bid packages
• Aiding with the project construction budget
• Aiding with Preconstruction-Operations Turnover Meetings
• Aiding with Subcontractor and Vendor relationships
• Aiding with project procurement and buyout
• Collaborating with Preconstruction Leadership
• Collaborating with designers and clients
• Collaborating and assisting the project operations team
• Following project construction costs and market trends
• Participating in Preconstruction software development, maintenance, and historical costs
• Leading and training Estimating personnel
• Travel as required - 10%-20%

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent with 5 years of estimating experience, or 15 years of relevant experience in the construction industry
• Experience in HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection Mechanical Estimating
• Preferable experience with Accubid and Beck Destini Estimator
• Experience with Revit/Navisworks, 3D model

Qualifications

• Strong subcontractor & vendor relationships
• Ability to forecast design and materials at a conceptual level
• Ability to develop a detailed estimate a conceptual level with minimal design
• Strong understanding of material specifications to make informed recommendations
• Experience in multiple markets including Manufacturing, Consumer Product Goods, Mission Critical, Municipal, Education, Federal, Healthcare, and Water/Wastewater

Skills

• Strong mechanical estimating experience
• Self-perform and design-build project delivery method experience
• Evaluation of building systems for cost effectiveness and constructability
• Experience in multiple markets including Manufacturing, Consumer Product Goods, Mission Critical, Municipal, Education, Federal, Healthcare, and Water/Wastewater
