About the Role

The position will be within our Industrial Power and Process division with a primary focus on large utility generation/distribution systems. The role will also include business development, marketing, and project management duties. This role oversees complex mechanical projects from early programming through construction administration, while guiding and developing junior engineers and designers.

Responsibilities

• Design of turbine, reciprocating, and steam-based power generation systems, hydronic systems, gas compression and distribution systems, building mechanical systems, development of site and facility arrangements, and general process or industrial facility projects.
• Development of Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) and Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID).
• Perform high-complexity engineering designs including analysis, calculations, research, and equipment selection.
• Development of drawing and specification packages for the execution of both Design Build and Design-Bid-Build project styles.
• As Project Manager, manage, direct, and supervise projects to assure they conform to commitments related to time, quality, and cost.
• Deal directly with clients to establish project schedules and expectations.
• Coordinate other disciplines as needed to ensure project deliverables are constructable.
• Manage, direct, and supervise mechanical engineering staff in the execution of projects to meet schedules and budget goals.
• Apply applicable codes to designs.
• Supplement Salas O'Brien design standards and administrative procedures where needed.
• Assist team leader in manpower projections and scheduling of work.
• Assist team leader in maintaining and developing client base through various business development efforts.
• Assist market segment manager and team leader in preparation of RFP-type proposal responses including project write-ups, resumes, and fee developments.
• Take an active lead in the proposal process.
• Identify prospective clients and work with the team leader to establish relationships with those clients.
• Identify new opportunities that may have synergistic benefits with our existing business.

Requirements

• Ten (10) or more years of relevant experience.
• B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited school.
• Professional Engineers (PE) license.
• Project Management experience.
• Knowledge of engineering theories and methodologies.
• Knowledge of project approach and system design.
• Willingness to build and maintain relationships with clients.
