About the role

This role performs technical activities on assigned projects while adhering to discipline-specific policies and procedures. The incumbent participates in technical studies, investigations, and designs, seeking guidance from senior engineers for complex solutions and making independent decisions for low-to-moderate complexity tasks. The role provides technical direction to designers and CAD operators, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest technical quality.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure company technical policies and procedures are followed during project execution.
  • Assist in developing design approaches and concepts; request guidance from senior technical staff as needed.
  • Provide discipline-specific engineering for systems and designs of low-to-moderate complexity.
  • Delegate work tasks, collaborate with subordinate staff, and review delegated work for accuracy.
  • Assist in executing technical training programs for design staff.
  • Support proposal and presentation development for clients.
  • Provide feedback to project managers for performance evaluations.
  • Coordinate project designs with other disciplines, including attending project meetings.
  • Perform engineering studies, design analyses, and assist in establishing budgets, cost estimates, and project schedules.
  • Review shop drawings, record changes, and communicate with suppliers, contractors, and client representatives.
  • Conduct on-site inspections during construction and coordinate design requirements with contractors and suppliers.
  • Use design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
  • Actively participate in professional organizations and client groups to enhance the firm’s technical reputation.
  • Complete assigned work within the allotted time frame and budget.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Informal task supervision of CAD operators, designers, junior associates, associates, engineers, and Engineer IIs at the direction of the project manager.

Requirements

  • Professionally licensed engineer with a Bachelor’s (B.S.) in Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience and/or training; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Experience with consulting firms and leadership in design projects, including overseeing design tasks.
  • Professional Engineering License required.
