Senior Mechanical Engineer
Engineering$139k–$174k/yrFull-time
We need to output HTML fragment with sections: About the role? The posting includes Position Overview, What You Will Do, Personal & Professional Growth, What You Will Bring, Benefits, Pay Range. Also maybe "Why Woolpert?" but that's similar to About the role? The instruction: use
for section headings (e.g. About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule). We should include sections only when posting has real specific content. We need to preserve all substantive info, not invent.
We need to decide which sections to include: "About the role" could be the Position Overview paragraph. "Responsibilities" could be "What You Will Do as a Senior Mechanical Engineer". "Requirements" could be "What You Will Bring". "Qualifications" maybe overlapping; but we can combine. "Skills" maybe part of requirements. "Benefits" definitely. "Pay" definitely (Pay Range). "Schedule" maybe not given; there is mention of full-time in-person or hybrid working arrangements, but not schedule specifics. Could include Schedule? The instruction: never create Pay/Schedule/Benefits sections unless posting actually states them. It does mention "full-time in-person or hybrid working arrangements" which is schedule type. Could include Schedule heading with that info. However they said prefer few substantive sections over many thin ones. Might combine schedule into About the role? But schedule is separate info. Could include Schedule heading with that line.
We must not repeat job title as heading. No Job ID. Remove boilerplate like EEO, equal-opportunity, scam-warning, application instructions, etc. Also remove navigation, cookie, legal. So we strip those.
We need to preserve all substantive info: include details about Woolpert, mission, etc. That's in first paragraph about innovative thinking, award-winning global leader, etc. That could be part of About the role or maybe a general intro. Since we cannot repeat job title, we can have About the role heading and include that overview plus position overview.
Let's structure:
About the role
We seek to move the world forward through innovative thinking. Woolpert is an award-winning, global leader in architecture, engineering, and geospatial services. We blend design excellence with cutting-edge technology to deliver exceptional client value. Our team is passionate about their work and committed to building the next generation of industry leaders, and as a certified Great Place to Work®, Woolpert embraces progress and innovation to create limitless opportunities for career growth. Position Overview Woolpert is hiring an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic Mechanical Engineering team in South Florida. This position would be aligned with our office in Coral Gables, FL and would support full-time in-person or hybrid working arrangements. This position is responsible for leading engineering projects; overseeing project scope and schedule, performing Mechanical HVAC and Plumbing engineering technical work on complex projects, mentoring staff, applying proficiency in designing, analyzing, and reviewing Mechanical & Plumbing systems to ensure safety, sustainability, and compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, technical expertise, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Joining Woolpert's engineering team means becoming part of a dynamic and supportive environment where growth and creativity are not just encouraged but are integral to the team's success and Woolpert’s broader mission.
Then Responsibilities:
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of mechanical HVAC and plumbing systems from concept through construction documentation and supporting construction administration.
- Perform heating and cooling load calculations using industry-standard software such as Trane Trace 3D Plus.
- Perform technical review and QA/QC reviews to ensure the delivery of code-compliant, and high-quality engineering deliverables.
- Develop and modify models, plans, details, and drawings of mechanical and plumbing engineering systems and components according to established standards and modeling techniques.
- In depth knowledge of energy modeling using modeling software and techniques, including COMcheck and EnergyGauge.
- Support career development and technical skill advancement of team members.
- Conduct training sessions for internal employees when necessary.
Then Personal & Professional Growth maybe as a section? Could be "Growth & Development". But instruction list includes Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule. Not growth. Could combine into About the role? But it's substantive. Could create a section "Growth & Development" but not in list. Better to maybe put under "Skills"? Not exactly. Could omit? But we must preserve all substantive info. Could include as a paragraph under About the role? Might be okay to add a paragraph after responsibilities. But we need to keep it.
Maybe we can create a section "Professional Development" but not in allowed headings? The instruction says use
for section headings (e.g. About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule). It gives examples but not exclusive? It says use for section headings (e.g. About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule). Likely they expect those headings only. So we should map content to those headings.
Thus we need to fit Personal & Professional Growth into either Skills or Requirements or Qualifications. Could be under Skills (since it's about growth opportunities). But Skills heading is for list of skills. Could put a paragraph under Skills about growth opportunities. However we also have a list of skills in What You Will Bring. That could be under Requirements or Qualifications. Let's decide:
- About the role: company overview + position overview.
- Responsibilities: What You Will Do.
- Requirements: What You Will Bring (education, experience, certifications, specific expertise).
- Skills: maybe the soft skills and technical skills list (communication, interpersonal, organizational, presentation, etc.) plus software proficiency.
- Benefits: Benefits You Will Love.
- Pay: Pay Range.
- Schedule: full-time in-person or hybrid working arrangements.
We need to ensure we don't create sections with filler. All have content.
Now we need to extract details.
Let's parse the posting.
Company intro: "We seek to move the world forward through innovative thinking. Woolpert is an award-winning, global leader in architecture, engineering, and geospatial services. We blend design excellence with cutting-edge technology to deliver exceptional client value. Our team is passionate about their work and committed to building the next generation of industry leaders, and as a certified Great Place to Work®, Woolpert embraces progress and innovation to create limitless opportunities for career growth."
Position Overview: "Woolpert is hiring an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic Mechanical Engineering team in South Florida. Joining Woolpert's engineering team means becoming part of a dynamic and supportive environment where growth and creativity are not just encouraged but are integral to the team's success and Woolpert’s broader mission."
We can combine company intro and position overview under About the role.
Now Responsibilities: list from "What You Will Do as a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Woolpert:" includes:
- Lead the design and development of mechanical HVAC and plumbing systems from concept through construction documentation and supporting construction administration.
- Perform heating and cooling load calculations using industry-standard software such as Trane Trace 3D Plus.
- Perform technical review and QA/QC reviews to ensure the delivery of code-compliant, and high-quality engineering deliverables
Note there is a missing period after "deliverables". We'll keep as is.
Now Requirements: "What You Will Bring" includes:
- BA/BS or MA/MS in related field and 10 or more years related experience.
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) certification required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience leading engineering projects.
- Expertise in the design and application of complex air-side and water-side HVAC systems, including chilled water and condenser water systems, cooling towers, boilers, pumps, AHUs, DOEAS, RTUs, VAV Systems, CRAC/CRAH units, and energy recovery units/systems.
- Experience with building HVAC system design for commercial, mixed-use, healthcare, aviation, hospitality, and/or high-rise preferred.
- Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) and HVAC controls, including development of control diagrams, sequences of operation, and control narratives.
- Experience designing sustainable building systems, including familiarity with LEED, Green Building Institute, or other sustainability credentialing.
- Excellent presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Expert verbal and written communication abilities for both internal and external relationships.
- Experience with discipline related software applications and calculation tools.
- Substantial experience designing in Autodesk Revit 3-D modeling software and directing the preparation of construction documents.
- Experience conducting and leading QAQC and coordination of design documents between disciplines.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents including scientific and technical journals, handbooks, and industry information.
- Proficient in use of MS Teams, OneDrive/SharePoint, and MS Office suite.
- Ability to provide effective responses to sensitive inquiries from clients, regulatory agencies, and/or members of the business community.
- Able to write technical opinions, articles, and thought leadership social media using original or innovative techniques or style.
- Mentally and physically capable of performing all essential duties required of the position.
- Willing to travel to project sites or offices, as needed.
Now Skills: Could be overlapping with Requirements but we can extract soft skills and technical skills not already covered. However many are already in Requirements. To avoid duplication, we could put the soft skills under Skills and keep Requirements focused on education/experience/certifications. But the instruction says preserve ALL substantive information; we can duplicate? Better not duplicate but we can split.
Let's define:
Requirements: education, years experience, PE cert, minimum 3 years leading projects.
Skills: expertise in HVAC systems, BMS, sustainable design, presentation/interpersonal/organizational skills, communication abilities, software experience, Revit, QAQC, document interpretation, MS Office, client inquiries, writing technical opinions, mental/physical capability, travel willingness.
But that's still a lot. Could combine Requirements and Skills into one section "Requirements" and omit Skills. But we need to follow instruction: we can have only sections that have real content. Having both Requirements and Skills may be thin if we split. Better to have one Requirements section that includes all qualifications and skills. Then we can omit Skills heading.
Thus sections: About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Benefits, Pay, Schedule.
Now Benefits: list from "Benefits You Will Love". Include:
- Freedom to Work program: Set your own schedule and location (as appropriate).
- Principal program: Earn the opportunity to become an owner of the firm.
- Flexible paid time off/vacation: Take time off when it makes sense for you and your team.
- Career development: Explore a wide range of learning and growth opportunities within and across industries.
- Health, life, vision, and dental insurance: Cover all your medical bases.
- Paid sick time, retirement plan, fitness reimbursement, pet insurance, identity protection, technology stipend, employee assistance program, and more!
We should preserve all.
Pay: "Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay Range $139,200 - $174,000 USD". We'll include that.
Schedule: "full-time in-person or hybrid working arrangements". Also maybe
