- Lead product and system-level electro-mechanical design efforts, including requirements definition, product architecture, and detailed machine-level physical solutions
- Own detailed mechanical layouts, FEA models, and tolerance schemes to ensure performance, reliability, and manufacturability
- Engage directly with product managers, customer engineers, and program managers to understand and translate customer needs into robust designs
- Represent Tolomatic in customer design reviews and program meetings, projecting confidence and credibility
- Provide subsystem proof-of-performance and lessons learned for future opportunities
- Support Product and Program Managers with technical input for development roadmaps, proposals, reviews, and risk assessments
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to perform trade-off studies and ensure designs balance performance, cost, manufacturability, and serviceability
- Develop efficient modular product architectures in a challenging high-mix engineering and manufacturing environment
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred
- 5+ years of hands-on mechanical machine design experience with industrial automation or defense products
- Strong leadership, critical thinking, optimization, and decision-making skills
- High mechanical aptitude with demonstrated experience designing complex machined assemblies and power transmission systems, supported by a solid background in computer-aided design and analysis; SolidWorks and ANSYS preferred
- Experience designing precision mechanical systems involving bearings, shafts, gearing, motors, drives, ball or roller screw mechanisms, linear motion, and machined components
- Experience leading system-level architecture design and requirements management
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interface confidently with customer technical teams and program leadership
- Familiarity with regulated or mission-critical industries preferred, such as defense, aerospace, medical, or industrial automation
