San Jose, CA (on site), Full-time Therma, a Legence company, is seeking a highly motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer with +8 years of experience in the HVAC industry. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who excels in mentoring engineers, overseeing projects, and engaging directly with clients to deliver high-quality solutions. This role encompasses every phase of the design-build project process, from initial design to construction administration support. As an integral member of our engineering team, you will oversee the entire design process - from conceptualization to the finalization of detailed design and construction documents. Additionally, you will coordinate efforts across multiple disciplines - including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, architectural, civil, structural, controls, general construction, and ownership groups – contributing to efficient and timely project progress in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Bespoke building mechanical and plumbing system designsDesign heating, cooling, and ventilation load calculationsConduct design reviews and provide feedback to engineers, project managers, and project executives to improve product quality, efficiency and performanceOversee and manage multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery, quality assurance, and budget adherenceInterface with clients, architects, and project stakeholders to develop innovative and sustainable mechanical designsGenerate, review and approve technical drawings, submittals, and specifications as required to ensure compliance with project goalsEvaluate project submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs to determine conformance with contract documents and design requirementsResearch and analyze customer project requirements, specifications, and data to assess feasibility, program application, and maintenance requirementsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve problems, implement solutions, and optimize project outcomesStay updated on industry trends and advancements in mechanical engineering and energy-efficient building solutionsProviding technical guidance and professional development support to the team Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field)Minimum 8 years of engineering experience as a Mechanical Engineer, preferably in the HVAC design-build environmentLicensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of California and MEOR Responsibilities as requiredProficiency in AutoCAD, Revit and BluebeamExpert knowledge of California Building Code, Title 24Expert knowledge of ASHRAE guideline(s) 62.1, 55, 90.1Expertise in HVAC systems, cooling and heating plants, and MEP design.Document Technical Review & Quality ControlExpertise in Project Coordination and Project Management Experience in client relations and relationship management Positive attitude, team player, commitment to achieving a common goal Engineering Team Development, Mentoring, and LeadershipLEED Certification (preferred)Knowledge of HVAC BAS/ControlsExpertise in System Basis of Design (BOD) and Sequence of Operation (SOO) development Salary: $150k-$185k, depending on experience We are unable to provide immigration sponsorship for this position.
