Senior Mechanical Engineer

Working closely with clients, engineers, and project stakeholders, you will lead mechanical design efforts, evaluate system performance, and develop solutions that support operational excellence in highly regulated environments. Responsibilities
- Support other engineers or project managers as needed.
- Research applicable industry standards, prepare engineering studies, analysis of systems, preliminary and detailed engineering design.
- Develop engineering specifications.
- Review work of project design team, check progress of work and alert managers to changes in scope and additional services required to complete design.
- Coordinate some aspects of project document completion.
- Direct CAD designers and other engineers in the preparation of construction drawings.
- Interpret applicable codes and work with code officials and other design professionals when an interpretation or exception to codes is required.
- Coordinate project design with other engineering disciplines as required.
- Provide field surveys to document existing building conditions.
- Perform cooling and heating load calculations, ventilation calculations using the ventilation rate procedure (VRP), COMcheck calculations, and energy modeling.
- Perform ductwork and piping pressure drop calculations, ductwork and piping layouts.
- Interpret Building and Fire Codes.
- Provide equipment selections, drawing and book specifications for all mechanical equipment including air devices, terminal units, chillers, boilers, heat exchangers, pumps, fans, packaged, custom, and modular air handling units, valves, insulation, expansion tanks, water heaters, grease interceptors, and plumbing fixtures.
- Provide construction administration support for equipment.
- Provide equipment details and determine appropriate system types and advanced control sequences.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Mechanical Engineering.
- Mechanical Engineering PE License is preferred.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of mechanical design experience helping to create construction documents for a wide range of projects.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting projects within the Pharma/Biotech/Life Science industry.
- Subject Matter Expert in non-Critical, critical, and GMP critical Mechanical Systems such as HVAC, Clean Utilities, Black Utilities, Pressure Vessels, and Fire Suppression systems.
Skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity or ability to utilize calculation software such as Carrier HAP, Trane Trace, and COMcheck.
- Revit and/or AutoCAD experience is a plus (ability to open drawings, navigate, edit text, and print).

Pay
$135,000-175,000 Annually (depending on experience). Eligible for overtime pay.
