Senior Mechanical Engineer
About the role
This position serves to work in a fast-paced multi-discipline team environment. Responsibilities primarily focus on the design of mechanical systems for new facilities, additions, and renovation projects, including technical leadership for construction documents, existing system studies, and master planning. The role involves client, team, code official, contractor, and stakeholder engagement to resolve mechanical issues and build effective working relationships. Project focus is primarily mission critical facilities, especially data centers across North America.
Responsibilities
- Develop HVAC system designs based on scope of work and/or client RFPs
- Provide engineering design, evaluation, and planning of mechanical systems for a variety of building types
- Perform and oversee Load/Energy calculations using software such as Trace 700/3D, IES and similar programs
- Conduct existing building surveys and document existing HVAC systems
- Develop system design calculations and select equipment for buildings; specific experience and knowledge in chilled water systems required
- Write and edit project specifications
- Prepare detailed design documents, reports, and studies
- Complete code compliance research
- Coordinate work with other disciplines
- Provide construction administration services
- Perform QA/QC of design work
- Oversee and guide junior engineers
- Lead project teams and serve as primary client contact
- Assist in new work procurement, including client relationship development and participation in project interviews
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Minimum 8 years of design experience
- Minimum 4 years of project management experience (preferred)
- Knowledge in the design of HVAC systems
- Knowledge and understanding of codes, standards, and design guidelines
- Excellent work ethic and attitude
- Strong communication and organizational skills with ability to plan, balance, and prioritize work
- Ability to lead and collaborate within a team
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and MS Office
- Willingness to travel up to 10%

Pay
The expected base salary range for this role is $115,000 – $180,000 USD per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on skills, experience, qualifications, and location. The role is also eligible for performance-based bonuses.
