Senior Mechanical Engineer
About the Role
NDI Engineering Company is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support our team in Thorofare, NJ. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing Naval Ship Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E) systems with extensive experience in delivering complex design projects from concept to operational readiness. This role focuses on systems integration, reliability engineering, and compliance with Navy standards, emphasizing safety, maintainability, and performance optimization. The candidate will collaborate with Navy program offices, contractors, and technical staff to meet mission-critical objectives.
Responsibilities
- Lead design projects from initial concept through detailed engineering, prototyping, and field validation, ensuring alignment with operational requirements and regulatory frameworks.
- Mentor junior engineers, driving innovation in HM&E solutions, and delivering projects on time and within scope.
- Create technical drawings and develop supporting technical documentation packages.
- Review technical data packages, mechanical test and quality data, and the review of design, manufacturing level, and system installation engineering drawings.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense Security Clearance.
- Must possess a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree; Professional Engineer or Engineer in Training Certification preferred but not required.
- Must have 15 years of professional work experience.
- 10 years of Mechanical Engineering experience in an applicable industry aligned to US Navy HM&E systems.
- Excellent leadership and communications skills.
Skills
- Proficiency in CAE/D, SolidWorks, and Finite Element Analysis, along with additional modeling and design process tools.
- Working knowledge in welding and piping, materials selection, and finishing processes.
- Understanding of acquisition and systems engineering.
