Senior Mechanical Engineer
About the role
Our Production Systems Engineering unit is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support and lead the development, planning, and execution of radiological mechanical systems throughout their full life cycle. In this role, you’ll research, design, verify, and develop mechanical and electromechanical equipment and fluid systems, recommending improvements that enhance safety, performance, efficiency, and cost. You may work in specialized areas such as thermal hydraulics, propulsion plant systems, component design, modeling and simulation, shock and vibration, acoustics, or structural analysis.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate fabrication, installation, testing, operation, and maintenance activities.
- Analyze engineering problems using data-driven methods.
- Apply engineering standards.
- Prepare or review technical documentation for system installation and operations.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, or science field and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience; or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, or science field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, or science field and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience; or currently a Senior Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with ventilation, HVAC, compressed air systems, and pump design.
- Proven project management expertise.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, showing self-reliance and strong motivation.

Pay
Pay Range $95,700.00 - $149,600.00 annually. Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
All candidates must be U.S. citizens. Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter.
