We are looking to strengthen the engineering group within the product R&D organization and have an opening for a Senior Mechanical Engineer. Projects range in size from designing small mechanisms and test fixtures to more complex full machine and system designs. In this position, you will be responsible for a number of concurrent projects or tasks including customer research, design, build, test, reporting, and optimization, while meeting design specifications and the project schedule.
Preferred Requirements And Experience
- Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering with 8+ years of experience in the design, development, and launch of complex electromechanical products.
- Experience in machine design that has incorporated machine elements, structural components, kinematic principles and/or mechanisms, electromechanical component packaging, electromechanical drive systems, sensors, design for cost, and design for manufacturability.
- Experience designing sophisticated, precision, and reliable mechanisms and assemblies.
- Proficiency with CAD and FEA design software such as SolidWorks (or equivalent), GD&T, BOMs, mechanical drawings, ECOs.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, sheet metal, casting, injection molding, 3D printing, finishing, material selection, fastening, and assembly operations.
- Ability to ideate, evaluate, and propose new design concepts by evaluating customer feedback, requests, and pain points.
- Ability to collaborate with other functional groups such as marketing, manufacturing, and service to develop specifications, resolve design tradeoffs, and incorporate their requirements into the final design.
- Experience with design verification and testing activities including designing, setting up, and conducting tests, data acquisition, statistical data analysis, and documentation of results.
- Familiarity with related disciplines (electrical, firmware, software) sufficient to support product development including the conceptualization and architecture of mechanical and system-level design direction.
