Senior Mechanical Engineer

Principal Responsibilities

Lead design efforts for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for moderate to complex projects
Create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards
Perform site assessments and generate technical analyses and reports
Partner with clients to gather requirements, communicate technical information, and maintain strong relationships
Conduct in-process reviews of system designs, calculations, specifications, and project correspondence
Implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure designs meet IMEG standards, industry standards, and client requirements
Provide technical training, mentoring, and assistance in resolving field issues with limited support from senior staff
Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and mechanical engineering best practices while contributing to innovation efforts within IMEG
Identify and mitigate safety risks associated with mechanical systems and prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and participate in project interviews and presentations

Required Qualifications And Skills

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent, required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required
  • 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
  • Advanced proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
  • Advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics relating to mechanical design in HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems
  • Strong training, mentoring and leadership skills
  • Able to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
  • Able to sell work and develop client relationships
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Able to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • To travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays
