Senior Mechanical Engineer

Senior Mechanical Engineer – Onsite in Sunnyvale, CA. Long‑Term Contract. Minimum 40 hours/week.

About the role

Lead exploration, prototyping, maturing and implementation of new technologies into functional medium‑volume prototypes to validate technical and product‑level functionality, use cases, and tech maturity. Work alongside a diverse XFN team consisting of EE, FW/SW, Audio, and Optical engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead technology development projects through creation of functional prototypes and development of test methods.
• Support R&D projects (NTI and NPI) by designing systems and test vehicles for new technology introduction studies and technology development.
• Design product components and systems for consumer electronics.
• Design electromechanical and optomechanical systems for device testing and validation.
• Develop and implement test methods for design validation.
• Contribute to creation of technical specifications and product definition.
• Work closely with XFN team consisting of EE, FW/SW, Audio, Optical, REL, and Manufacturing Engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
• 5+ years of industry experience in mechanical design, with a demonstrated track record of shipping high‑volume commercial products or designing complex electromechanical assemblies in a research/prototype environment.
• Demonstrated experience leading the design of complex assemblies and systems from concept to production.
• Expertise using NX/Teamcenter as the primary CAD software.
• Proficiency in 3D/2D CAD, DFM/DFA, GD&T, material properties, and high‑volume manufacturing techniques.

Range $75/hr – $85/hr, determined by location, level, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
