Senior Mechanical Engineer
About the role
Filamatic is seeking a customer-focused engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, consultative environment, partnering with customers from concept through delivery in the design, build, and deployment of industrial liquid filling and packaging machinery.
Responsibilities
- Design automated machinery that meets our client's production requirements in filling, caping, and labeling of their products, within the project timeline.
- Lead development of solutions to complex customer challenges.
- Identify commercially available machine components and stay current on industry trends and competitor products.
- Create and update technical drawing packages and cost estimates.
- Work collaboratively with other engineers to meet project goals.
- Interface with sales, manufacturing, assembly, and technical service as needed to provide engineering support.
- Conceive and develop new product concepts.
- Consult with internal leadership about design and performance expectations.
- Provide guidance, supervision, and mentorship of other engineers as directed by management.
- Develop new software applications/tools to improve engineering efficiency.
- Define internal engineering procedures and requirements as directed by management.
- Travel to customer facilities to resolve difficult field situations.
- Demonstrate a full knowledge of Filamatic product offerings and suggest solutions for commercial opportunities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering / Machine Design / Mechanical / Mechatronics or 10+ years equivalent experience.
- Expert in sizing/selecting multi-axis motion control systems, electromechanical systems, and pneumatics.
- Significant experience designing automated machinery, such as assembly, packaging, filling, and/or continuous motion machines.
- Exceptional concept and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Knowledge of FDA, ASME standards/regulations preferred.
- 3D Design experience - SolidWorks, or similar (Inventor, Creo, etc).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to control multiple projects of varying complexity from concept to completion.
- Familiarity with machine shop/manufacturing practices.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range: $95,000 – $130,000 per year
Benefits: 3 weeks of annual vacation, 10 paid holidays, 401(k) with company contribution, parental leave, and comprehensive health (3 plan options), dental, and vision coverage.
Eligibility for insurance and 401(k) begins the first of the month following 30 days of employment.
