About the role

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Ferrotec (USA) Corporation, you will design and draft components, assemblies, and subsystems that meet the highest quality standards. This role requires a strong understanding of engineering principles and the ability to create detailed engineering drawings and layouts for mechanical and electrical assemblies. You will optimize design factors such as functionality, manufacturability, material availability, cost, and serviceability while ensuring compliance with customer specifications. A commitment to quality and enabling organizational change is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Design and draft components, assemblies, and subsystems following standard engineering and industrial practices while adhering to quality objectives.
  • Identify, specify, and integrate commercially available industrial components as necessary.
  • Utilize various materials suitable for design applications, including machine components, weldments, ceramics, and plastics.
  • Coordinate the design development of work orders, Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and quotes with other departments.
  • Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) processes and Advance Deviation Requests (ADRs).
  • Conduct thorough analysis and testing to validate design decisions and prepare comprehensive reports.
  • Apply engineering fundamentals and experience to perform routine and moderately complex engineering tasks.
  • Provide innovative solutions and apply theoretical techniques to real-world engineering problems.
  • Work independently on complex designs with minimal supervision, exercising sound judgment in technical decision-making.
  • Train and support junior engineers, facilitating their growth and development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent expertise with 15 years of experience in mechanical engineering, and 6 to 10 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 3-6 years of experience.
  • Proven engineering skills with strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and critical thinking capabilities.
  • Proficiency in CAD, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and GD&T principles.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with a focus on decision-making and data analysis.
  • Strong organizational abilities and leadership potential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and report writing.
