Senior Mechanical Engineer
About the role
BR+A Consulting Engineers is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer in our Los Angeles, CA office. The ideal candidate will possess a strong working knowledge of Revit and will be responsible for:
- Delivering high-quality designs and deliverables on technically challenging projects
- Managing projects, writing proposals, maintaining positive client relationships
- Performing advanced heating and cooling load calculations with Trace or HAP
- Developing sections and elevations of complex ductwork and piping areas
- Developing equipment room sizes during SD and DD phases
- Editing specifications to reflect the project requirements
- Developing air and water flows
- Understanding fan and pump curves to properly select equipment for application
- Using the psychrometric chart properly for any HVAC system
- Understanding work planning and managing the design process to the available hours in the work plan
- Understanding the proper scope of SD, DD, CD level documents and delivering appropriate documentation
- Modifying sequences of operations for AHU’s, CHW and HW systems
- Understanding both constant and variable flow systems, and properly applying equipment
- Performing field verification and take-offs of existing systems for renovation projects
- Responding to RFI’s for the project, and accurately reviewing submittals
- Coordinating with other disciplines (MEPFP, ARCH, STRUCT, etc) for all HVAC details
- Meeting with vendors to determine specification requirements for application
- Meeting with contractors during the bid phase to review the design details

Requirements
Essential Job Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:
- Experience in designing Healthcare, Higher Education or Laboratory projects
- OSHPD 1 project experience
- Excellent Organizational and Communication skills

- Professional conduct and presentation
- Detail orientated and deadline-driven
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- PE License
- 10-15 years of relevant experience

Pay
Salary Range for 10 -15 years of experience: $110,000 - $170,000
